Privacy Policy

This is our plain-words privacy policy. It says what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. If anything here is unclear, email shop@trotlift.com and we'll explain it properly.

1. What we collect

When you order, we collect what an order needs: your name, shipping address, email address, and your phone number if you give us one. Payment is handled entirely by Shopify's payment providers. Card numbers never touch our systems and we never see them.

We also collect basic usage data through cookies and similar tools: which pages you viewed, what device you used, and your approximate region. And we keep whatever you send us by email or through the contact form, including any photos of your dog you share for fit help, so we can answer you.

2. What we use it for

Fulfilling and shipping your order, replying to your questions, helping with fit, and honoring the 60-day guarantee. We also look at usage data in aggregate to work out which parts of the store are confusing.

We email you marketing only if you opt in. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and it works the first time you click it.

3. What we never do

We don't sell your personal information. Not to data brokers, not to advertisers, not to anyone.

We share it only with the services that actually run the store: Shopify, our payment processor, shipping carriers, our order-tracking service, our review platform, and our email service. Each is bound to use your information only to do that work for us.

4. Cookies

We use cookies for three things: keeping your cart, keeping you logged in, and analytics. You can block cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Be aware that the cart needs them to work. Block everything and you won't be able to check out.

5. Your choices

Email shop@trotlift.com to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. We'll act on your request within 30 days and tell you when it's done.

If you live somewhere with specific privacy rights, California included, those rights are honored on the same request. You don't need a special form or a legal phrase; just ask.

6. Retention and security

Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires us to keep them. Support emails are kept for 24 months, then deleted.

Access is limited to the people who run the store, and only for the work they're doing. We don't keep copies anywhere they aren't needed.

7. Children

This store isn't directed at anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we'll delete it.

8. Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the updated version appears on this page with a new date at the top. We won't quietly change it and hope you don't notice.
